Our purpose is to promote peace and unity through the use of intercultural dialogue in learning programs and other educations efforts.

ABOUT US

Over ten years ago Dustys’ Fishing Well was born at the kitchen table of Dusty Harris, the founders,  mother.   Together they brainstormed and talked for hours about what Dusty had instilled in her three daughters while raising them as a single parent in the Western Addition subsidized  housing complex, Banneker Homes. As her girls grew, she spread her knowledge of life about making good decisions, presenting yourself as though were about to meet the President and how to take care of yourself.  She was generous with her nurturing and knowledge and gave this to all of the children in the community.  Dusty observed grooming standards amongst the youth had diminished, dining manners were not being practiced, and an understanding of what a young adult needs to step into the world of adulthood was near absent.
Together, Dusty and Attica would fret over the removal of home economics in the high schools.  They laughed about Attica’s resistance to attending Charm School as a pre-teen, but as an adult admitting there were lessons learned she still carries with her today.  Over the years the two developed a curriculum along with a set of goals they agreed the program should accomplish.
In October of 2017 Dusty took sick and unfortunately passed away on February 8, 2018.  It has since been the mission of her eldest daughter, Attica, to forge forward with their plan to ensure that our future leaders of the world knew their etiquette and manners, even if she has to do it one teen at a time.
The foundation has affectionately been named after Attica’s mom in combination with the concept from a Chinese Proverb:
“You can give a man a fish and feed him for the day, or you can teach him how to fish and feed him for life”
